Emily's 6-Month Appointment

Happy Easter from the Stroh family!! I am excited that Chad has the weekend off- and Easter weekend at that. Although we are spending it here in Michigan and we don't have any guests to celebrate with, that doesn't mean that I'm not making a full meal! Thanksgiving may be Chad's favorite holiday to cook, but mine is Easter! The Easter bunny came and delivered an Easter basket for Emily- complete with a book and some eggs. I also took advantage of the situation (read: she cannot object yet!) and dressed her up as a bunny! Chad may have cringed, but I thought it was adorable! You be the judge:
Thank you, Pinterest, for the idea! She even has a cottonball tail! Here is a picture of her and daddy with her Easter basket (she has Chad's watch in her mouth...it's her new favorite thing!)

On Friday was Emily's 6-month appointment and this time we had a different doctor than usual- and I loved him! Emily weighed in at 14 lbs 4 oz (14th percentile) and was 25 inches tall (15th percentile). She continues to be on the smaller side, which is fine as long as she doesn't fall off the scale.  She received 3 shots, which was difficult to watch, as usual. I actually enjoy going to the doctor because I get a lot of questions answered from a trusted professional.
We enjoyed a beautiful SPRING day yesterday, after suffering though a month's worth of horrible weather. It was Emily's first 60-degree day, so we celebrated by grilling out and letting her out in the sun (in moderation, of course.) She seemed to like it out there! And Torque, of course, felt right at home!

How much Emy has changed: Months 1-6

I thought it would be cool to show how much Emily has changed over the past 6 months!  Admittedly, not all months went so well (can you say month 3 and month 6!?) but I think that it gives these pictures character! I must say that she OWNED it during month 2 and 5~ looking good!! By 1 year old, I bet she'll be standing on the bear!

It's Official: We're Moving

I am extremely excited to officially announce that we are moving to Eau Claire, Wisconsin! Chad was offered the position of Assistant Operations Controller at the corporate office of Menards. We are both thrilled. It is more stable hours so Chad can spend more time with Emily. It is around the same amount of pay but with a lower cost of living. It is a long-term position so we could even buy a house if we wanted to! It is closer to both of our families, which is the most exciting to me. The only down-side is that instead of giving us a moving company, they are giving us a u-haul truck so we will have to pack and unpack ourselves. This will prove to be a challenge now that we have a baby! Torque is excited to be a Wisconsinite again (that is where he was born). It is kind of sad that Emy won't remember Michigan at all, however Chad and I both agree that it is time for a change. I am definitely going to miss the ladies (and the 1 gentleman) in my bookclub and I will also miss my coworkers from Walgreens!

On to Emily: She has truly grown up over the past month! She is becoming quite the little lady. She has a boyfriend now (Jeffrey) that she met at her Baby Time group. Although it's pretty serious, it will be interesting to see if it works out as a long-distance relationship! ;)
She is eating a wider variety of solid foods now. Her favorites include: applesauce, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas and pears. I have been making the vast majority of her baby food: it is cheaper, doesn't take too long to make and it is nice knowing exactly what is in her food. I have built up quite the stock-pile of food for her.  We also switched her to added-rice formula. She spits up less with it and is fuller for longer. Since she is on the low-end for weight, we also don't have to be too careful that she will become overweight from it- although it is something we are supposed to keep a lookout for. As of right now, she remains our "little lady"!

She LOVES for me to hold her in an upright position and can move her legs around to jump and dance. Thank God for her Johnny Jump-up!! She has an absolute favorite song that she dances to: Moves Like Jagger! Chad and I got an excellent video that we uploaded onto Dropbox of her dancing to it. She goes nuts! It is quite the sight to see.

She is still sleeping excellent. Except for this morning. She decided to wake me up at 5 this morning and was raring to go! How special. Thanks Emily! I wish there was a font that could signify sarcasm, because I am definitely being sarcastic here. :) I shouldn't be complaining, though; I really have been lucky when it comes to her sleeping habits!

She continues to sleep/fall asleep in weird positions:
We think she was dreaming of becoming a ballerina in this picture!!

The other day, I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and Emily was playing with her toys. All of the sudden, I heard a crash! and I rushed to see what had happened. Emily had scooted (?) over to her toy bin and knocked it over, because she wanted to have her choice of toys! She proceeded to take out every toy in the bin and play with it. Wow. What a character!

6 Months!

Well, as of tomorrow, my sweet baby girl will be a half-year old! And what a happy 6-month-old she is! Her favorite activities consist of: putting anything and everything in her mouth, rolling over to her tummy, looking in the mirror, bouncing in her Johnny Jump-Up, watching her "brother" Torque, trying new foods, and watching the "magic box" (the TV). She is super curious about the world around her, and wants to touch everything! She loves getting tickled, and also loves going to "baby time" at the library. She is getting very good at pushing her arms up while on her tummy- I have an awful feeling that crawling is not too far away. ;)  She is sitting up....sort of. By sort of, I mean that she tumbles over a lot while doing it! She is also teething, although none of her teeth have broken through yet. You can certainly tell that they are moving, though!
Last weekend, we headed to Lisbon for Emy's baptism. It was a very nice trip. Much of Chad's extended family were able to make it, as well as my parents and sister. During her baptism, she was more interested in eating the ribbons on her outfit than anything else- it was adorable! We put Chad's mom in charge of pictures, so I will post them once we get them from her. For now, I only have this one:
The dress was HAND-MADE by Emily's Great-Grammie...it was so intricate and so well-made!
Chad is in Eau Claire again at Menard's corporate office for 3 days this week. We are really hoping that he can get this job he applied for- he has been in talks with them for about a month now. It would be sooo nice to be closer to home! Apparently it has been narrowed down to 2 guys (Chad and another guy from the corporate office) and Chad thinks he has a very good shot at getting it! I think it is time for a change of pace for him. He works really hard and it would be nice for him to have less hours and be able to spend more time with us.
